Nomintaed by Skånes Dansteater, Malmö, Sweden

My name is Laith Fathulla, currently resides in vibrant Malmö, the reason of divorcing from Stockholm for almost two years ago. However, I am native signer, with origins from Iraq and a proud member of the deaf and queer community. I work as director of European Union of the Deaf Youth, from my home office and sometime as freelancing interpreter.

I have had various roles within the culture sector, starting at Riksteatern Crea, offering unique performing arts in sign language. I held the main responsibility of contributing to the cultural policies from a deaf perspective where sign language is fully utilized. That is where I realized the power of art moves us beyond our common sense.

As a person from minority society, I am constantly exploring my position among the majority. My ambition here is to expand the availability of theatre and dance to wider marginalized communities, in exchange of experiences.
